Spit and Sawdust is an amateur Boxing Club based in Surbiton, Surrey. Members are encouraged to enhance their well being and have fun whilst getting fit in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Spit and Sawdust is owned and managed by Gary Thatcher. Gary is a professional Gym Instructor, black belt Chinese Boxing Instructor and a qualified A.B.A. Coach. His philosophy was to create an old school style boxing club, hence the name, Spit and Sawdust. The principals of ‘no nonsense’ boxing and fitness training are promoted at the club, in a bright and modern environment.

There are two main areas – the gym and the studio.

The gym has excellent facilities including cross trainers, treadmills, bikes, benches and a selection of free weights, as well as punch bags and a boxing ring.

The studio offers a variety of classes and fitness activities to suit all tastes – please see our Classes section to check what is currently available.

Non contact boxing training is an excellent form of exercise for everyone. You will not be intimidated if you choose this type of training as a means to getting fitter, whatever your fitness level, age or gender. Boxing training provides a good all round workout and it can help you to increase stamina, lose weight, tone muscles and in turn build your confidence. Complete novices to boxing training are advised to join in with one of the classes to begin with, where you will be given guidance and advice to suit your ability. Those that have trained before are able to workout individually or join a class if preferred. All boxing classes are led by qualified Amateur Boxing Association Coaches. Sparring is an optional activity for members who wish to do so.

Personal training is available to members who prefer or need one to one sessions. You will be given a personal health and fitness programme which includes stretches, exercises and advice on nutrition from a qualified Personal Trainer.

Spit and Sawdust welcomes freelance instructors who are looking for a studio to hire in the Surrey area for fitness, exercise and dance classes. Situated in a prime central location, Spit and Sawdust’s studio is available at competitive rates and has car parking on site.

The studio can also be hired for birthday parties.  It's a great venue in Surbiton for your party, so please contact us for availability.
